A felony conviction could have a
serious impact upon your life. From the loss of your
civil rights, which include your right to vote, your ability to sit on a
jury, and your right to own, use, or possess a firearm, your right
to own a passport, and so on. A felony
drug charge that results in conviction may also result in an immediate
two-year suspension of your privilege to drive.
Convicted felons
are often prohibited from employment in occupations involving the
handling of money or valuables. A felony conviction
can also be a significant stumbling block if you later decide to pursue
a professional discipline field of employment, such as medicine, nursing, teaching, real
estate, financial services, or practicing law. If
you are already licensed in
a particular discipline profession, a
felony
conviction could result in a review of your "character and
fitness", jeopardizing your ability to continue to work in that
field.
The longer you wait to obtain the legal services of an experienced
felony crime defense attorney or lawyer,
your ability to achieve a successful or desired result in your legal
situation may be dramatically reduced.
